About

Cindy Schmitz, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner who treats adults and children with serious burns and complex skin wounds.

With skill and compassion, Cindy provides advanced treatments designed to reduce pain and heal burns and wounds with minimal scarring. She has a special clinical interest in treating critically ill patients with hard-to-heal skin injuries. With her advanced training, she excels at troubleshooting complex injuries and pinpointing new techniques to comfort the patient while helping them recover and heal.

Cindy takes a whole-person approach to care, addressing patients’ mental and physical health. She listens to their concerns, carefully explains their condition and outlines treatment options. Understanding that they are often scared and in pain, Cindy takes time to assure patients and their families that the entire care team is committed to helping them recover as completely as possible.

In addition to patient care, Cindy assists surgeons with research to find new ways to treat complex burns and wounds effectively without surgery.

During her free time, Cindy enjoys traveling, camping and hiking.

We work to comfort each patient, heal their burns and wounds and help them return to a healthy, productive life.
