Bridget Shields, MD

About

Bridget Shields, MD, is a UW Health dermatologist. She cares for patients with complex medical skin conditions who may need to be hospitalized for treatment. She treats skin conditions that result from diseases or disorders. These include nutritional and metabolic disorders and autoimmune and connective tissue diseases.

Dr. Shields specializes in treating specific skin disorders that form in response to an infection, outside conditions or an abnormal collection of white blood cells in the skin. She also treats skin disorders that result from digestive conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease.

Being on the same page as her patients and working as a team is how Dr. Shields likes to approach patient care. She includes her patients in the decisions about their treatments. She actively listens to them, which helps create an outcome that is best for the patient.

Dr. Shields is an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

In her free time, Dr. Shields enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing and being outdoors with her husband and their two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.

I am most excited to see patients, uncover their diagnosis and help those who desperately need it.
