About

Bakir Abushhiwa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who provides psychotherapy to adolescents and adults, couples and families. Bakir has been practicing in Wisconsin since 2017. Just as each individual is unique, so too should their therapy be. I take evidence based therapies and tailor them to the needs of my clients, bringing about change to support a higher quality of life through reducing suffering and promoting greater health. Interventions and theories play an important role in how a therapist supports bringing about change, but change can be limited if there isn’t a solid therapeutic relationship. Through trust, genuineness, empathy and a non judgmental stance I try to meet my clients where they are at. Working collaboratively, we will embark on setting mutually agreed upon goals and support collaborative problem solving around how best to support bringing about change in your life. Some of the problems I support people through are; depression, anxiety, trauma, relational stressors, eating disorders, behavioral problems, body image, grief and loss, life adjustments, and those seeking general counseling and support.
