About

Aurora Pop-Vicas, MD, is an infectious disease specialist at UW Health and an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine. She treats adults who have bacterial, viral, fungal or mycobacterial infections. She also evaluates and manages post-COVID (long COVID) and other infectious conditions in hospital and outpatient clinic settings.

Dr. Pop-Vicas’ area of expertise includes the prevention and treatment of drug resistant infections in older adults and other vulnerable populations. She is also skilled in infection control of health care-associated infections that occur during surgery or hospital stays. As a trained epidemiologist, she investigates the causes, patterns and outcomes of such infections in hospital settings.

Dr. Pop-Vicas credits years in the field plus personal experiences as a patient for her deep empathy and understanding of people’s fears.

In her free time, Dr. Pop-Vicas enjoys traveling, nature walks, embroidery and classical music. Her native language is Romanian.

I approach treatment with a holistic mindset. I understand how illness can affect your mind, emotions and quality of life. I address my patients’ feelings and fears while finding the best treatments for their needs.
