Anne Marsh, MD

Anne Marsh, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric hematology, oncology and palliative care doctor  and an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

As director of the UW Health Kids Pediatric Sickle Cell and the Pediatric Palliative Care Clinics, Dr. Marsh specializes in treating children with sickle cell disease (a blood disorder) and caring for children and their families on their journey through complex illness.  

Taking a whole-person approach to wellness, Dr. Marsh focuses on quality of life and strives to integrate the principles of palliative care with all of her patients. Her goal is to minimize suffering by tending to the medical, emotional and spiritual aspects of care.

When meeting with patients and their families, Dr. Marsh spends more time listening than talking. She recognizes the difficulty of having a sick child and acknowledges how the families feel. She supports her patients and their families with open communication and education and empowers them to make informed decisions about their medical care.

In her free time, Dr. Marsh enjoys spending time with her children, biking, playing ice hockey and being outdoors.

One of the most privileged things is to be able to accompany a child and a family in those final moments of life with grace and compassion.
