Ali Gardezi, MD

Ali Gardezi, MD, is a UW Health nephrologist (kidney doctor) and an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology.

Dr. Gardezi diagnoses and treats people with both acute (sudden) and chronic (long-term) kidney disorders. He also cares for patients on dialysis, a treatment that removes extra fluid and waste from the blood. For those who need a kidney transplant, he offers pre-operative care and education.

As an interventional nephrologist, Dr. Gardezi specializes in dialysis access, a lifesaving procedure to create and care for the access point on the body where the dialysis machine pulls blood for treatment and then safely returns it to the body.

Dr. Gardezi is clear and compassionate when talking with patients about their disease. He outlines treatment options, listens to their concerns and helps them manage their health over the long term. When patients need kidney transplants, he works to prepare them and help them feel as comfortable as possible.

To further improve patient care, Dr. Gardezi conducts research on dialysis, access care and at home dialysis treatment.

During his free time, Dr. Gardezi enjoys gardening and playing cricket.
