About

Alexander Miranda, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric ophthalmologist who also treats adult strabismus. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Miranda cares for babies, children and teens with eye and vision disorders and adults with strabismus — a vision and eye-alignment disorder. He evaluates and treats poor vision, pediatric cataracts, glaucoma and disorders requiring surgery or other therapies.

During patient evaluations, Dr. Miranda collaborates with technicians to diagnose disorders and develop care plans. He involves kids and families in their care with a personable style that helps put young patients at ease. He guides them through treatments ranging from eyeglasses and prism therapies to surgical procedures to correct problems and improve vision.

Dr. Miranda participates in research studies using extensive data shared by ophthalmology experts at leading universities, medical centers and professional associations. They find and share ways to improve eye and vision care.

In his free time, Dr. Miranda likes enjoys the outdoors, including cross-country and downhill skiing.

Working with kids who can be so animated and fun is like a breath of fresh air. I get to help change how they see the world, which has a positive impact now and for years to come.
