About

Adam Brinkman, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a UW Health Kids pediatric surgeon who provides surgical care to children. He treats a wide variety of cases, including abdominal conditions and cancer diagnoses. He has a special interest in treating children with intestinal failure, short gut syndrome and trauma injuries. He also performs complex surgery for newborns.

Dr. Brinkman also is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

For Dr. Brinkman, having an open two-way conversation with patients and their families is essential. He listens carefully to his patients and ensures everyone understands the diagnosis and treatments. He acknowledges any fear or anxiety over a procedure and works hard to put the patient and their family at ease. By developing a relationship with his patients and helping them stay calm, he also enables parents and caregivers to feel less overwhelmed.

In addition to working with patients, Dr. Brinkman trains the next generation of pediatric surgeons as the associate program director of the General Surgery Residency Program.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Brinkman enjoys cheering on the UW Badgers football and hockey teams.

At UW Health we can take care of any child, and do it compassionately and safely. Every child receives optimal care here.
