From the Director: A Vision for Sustained Excellence

UW Health Pharmacy Services: Letter from the DirectorThank you for your interest in the Department of Pharmacy at UW Hospital and Clinics. By browsing through the following web pages and links, we hope you find helpful information about our inpatient and community pharmacy services, student and resident training programs, and other patient care services provided by our expert pharmacists throughout UW Health. Our department has a long standing tradition as one of the leading pharmacy departments in the nation, setting a precedence for service, scholarship, science and social responsibility that is consistent with both our hospital and department mission.

Over the past several years, we have experienced tremendous change. It has been my pleasure to work with many students, residents, multidisciplinary staff members and most importantly, our patients. Because of these relationships, we have benefited in creating many new opportunities to both advance pharmacy practice and expand services offered to patients across UW Health. Our department consists of pharmacists, as well as technical and support personnel, who work together to assure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care possible.

Pharmacy team members provide patient care services related to medication therapy to patients of all age groups and levels of acuity through out UW Health. These locations include the Pediatric and Adult Inpatient Acute patient care units, Emergency Department, Comprehensive Cancer Center, American Family Children's Hospital, seventeen Primary and Specialty Care Clinics, and twelve UW Health Community Pharmacies conveniently throughout the greater Madison area.

As we look ahead to the future, there will be many challenges to pharmacy practice and to our health care system as a whole. But with great challenges, lie great opportunities for us to continue to collaborate with you, our partner in health care, so that we provide the best overall care and experience for our patients.
