Ernesto Perez, Culinary Services
I deliver up to 100 meals a day throughout the hospital so I interact with lots of people – patients, families, and staff. I try to spread positive energy everywhere I go and be as friendly and helpful as possible. I give my best every day, but it’s never enough to repay the gifts I have been given.
When my son was a teenager, he had a life-saving kidney transplant here. He was given a second chance at life and we’re forever grateful. I’ve spent the last 12 years here, trying to give back and help others.
It’s been a great experience. I enjoy it all, but it’s especially satisfying to be able to help patients. I wish I could do more. I think of all that our patients are going through and it makes me even more thankful for the blessings in my life.
People ask me, ‘Why are you always in such a good mood?’ Why wouldn’t I be? I’m healthy, my kids are doing well and I have a job at a wonderful place where I get to help people. There’s so much be thankful for. It’s a privilege to work here and it’s an honor to help our patients. They are reason we’re all here!
