Billing Frequently Asked Questions: MyChart Paperless E-Statements
UW Health MyChart users can choose to receive paperless e-statements rather than paper copies of their UW Health statements and pay their bills online from with the MyChart application.
What are eStatements?
eStatements are an electronic version of your mailed statement. The electronic statement is identical to the paper statement and can be viewed, printed or saved right from your computer. You can also pay your bill from within the MyChart application.
How do I pay my bills within MyChart?
You can now use MyChart to access your statements and make online payments. To do so, log into your MyChart account, navigate to your statement(s) by selecting:
- The My Medical Billing link.
- The Billing Acct Summary option.
- Select Pay Bill link next to the bills you want to pay.
How do I choose to receive paperless e-statements rather than hard copy statements?
Follow the process below to sign up for paperless e-statement in MyChart:
- Log into your MyChart account. If you are not a MyChart user, you can sign up for a MyChart account.
- Navigate to your statement(s) by selecting the My Medical Billing link and then the Billing Acct Summary option.
- Select the Sign up for paperless billing link, as seen in the example below.

When will my payment be posted to my account?
Your payment will be processed and posted to your account almost immediately. You can verify payment from within the MyChart application.
Is there a charge to me for making a payment online?
No, there is no charge to our patients for making a payment online.
Is my personal information secure once I make an online payment?
All of your personal information is protected and is secured.
Who should I contact if I have questions regarding my statement?
For UW Medical Foundation billing questions (for account numbers that start with P), please call (608) 829-5217 or toll-free (877) 565-0505. For UW Hospital and Clinics billing questions (for account numbers that start with H), please call (608) 262-2221 or toll-free (866) 841-8535.
Will I still receive a paper statement?
If you choose to receive paperless e-statements, you will not receive paper statements. However, you can opt out of paperless e-statements at any time.
How do I opt out of eStatements?
Log into your personal account and update your profile by selecting paper statements only.
How will I know when my e-statement is ready for viewing?
You will receive a MyChart notification letting you know that your statement is ready for viewing. You can access your statement from any computer by logging into your UW Health MyChart account.
How long will my statement remain online?
You can view current and past statements and payments for 18 months.
How do I view my statements after the 18-month period?
All statements can be saved on your personal computer. Simply open up the statement and select File>Save.
Is there a charge for e-statements?
No, e-statements are free.
Is my personal information secure?
All of your personal information is password protected and is secured.
Can I print my e-statement?
Any statements can be printed just as any document on your computer.
Can I sign up for paperless billing for my children or those I provide care?
No. Currently, paperless billing is not accessible for accounts associated with your children or for those for whom you provide care.
