Volunteer and help UW Organ and Tissue Donation (UW OTD) create hope for the 120,000 people who are still waiting for their gift of life with an organ transplant.

UW Organ and Tissue Donation (UW OTD-located in Madison, Wisconsin) has a large group of volunteers supporting our Community Outreach Team in our efforts to educate the public about the facts about organ, tissue and eye donation. Our goal is to expand donation education messaging to reach every corner of our service area and increase the number of registered donors from 60 to 75 percent.

Our volunteers support educational community events in our Designated Service Area that includes 59 Wisconsin counties, Winnebago County, Illinois and 5 Upper Michigan counties. Donor family members, recipients, living donors and others passionate about organ donation and transplantation are welcome to join the volunteer team.

We invite you to join our efforts by staffing educational booths at health fairs and other community events. Additional volunteer roles include participating in the Wisconsin Dottie Donor Dot mascot team as a mascot or escort or serving as a Wisconsin DMV ambassador, periodically meeting with local DMV employees to share your connection to donation. If interested, UW OTD volunteers may speak about their connection to donation to present at small community or club meetings or deliver a prepared 30-minute program at Wisconsin teen driver education classes so they can make an informed decision about registering as a donor.

UW OTD volunteers participate in a brief, 20-minute online training program to learn the most recent facts about organ, tissue and eye donation and transplantation. The training program also includes tips for working with the public. For those interested in speaking to small groups, additional training is provided.

Those with a personal connection to donation and/or transplantation may also share their personal story at my transplant or donation experience.
