The following was shared by Vicki, loving wife of Ron
Ronald "Mouse" Grotjahn was my wonderful husband for 38 years. He was a great father to our children Heidi and Nick, and grandpa to Leah, Laney, Irish and Lucas, who we also lost way too early.
Ron loved all of us and worked hard to provide a good life for us. He drove semi for 45 years without a single accident, and was very proud of that. He had just purchased a new 2009 Freightliner Semi and only got to drive it for two weeks before he died, which broke my heart because he kept the older one going so many years because we couldn't afford a better one. Ron was a great son and brother to his mom, Joan, sisters Kay and Shirley and brothers Randy and Rick. Ron and Randy loved working on projects together, and Ron loved teaching Randy new things.
Ron had a great sense of humor, and whenever he was asked how he was his reply was "Still short, fat and sassy!" Everyone that knew him admired his work ethic and willingness to help. I miss him every second of every day! His death was so sudden and unexpected that we never got to say goodbye and tell him one more time how much he was loved. I just hope his donations gave life to anyone that needed them. It gives me comfort knowing that.
