Registration Open for Donate Life Transplant Games of America
The Transplant Games of America is a biennial event held in the US that recognizes the tremendous accomplishments of individuals whose lives have been affected by organ and tissue donation. This festival-style event brings together athletes, living donors, donor families and members of the amazing medical community involved in transplantation to promote awareness of the life-changing impact that donation represents.
The 2016 Transplant Games of America: June 10-15
The 2016 games are in Cleveland Ohio from June 10-15. More than 3,000 participants from across the nation are expected. A public 5K and 10K run/walk will launch the event and promote the need for more organ donors.
Teams from virtually every state compete in a variety of sporting and non-sport competitive events to demonstrate how their lives have been changed through the gift of life.
- Track and field events
And four new non-traditional events: ballroom dancing, bean bag toss, Texas Hold-em Poker and a trivia challenge. A singing competition is also new this year.
There are two groups of competitors: anyone who received a solid organ, or anyone who had a cornea transplant, tissue transplant or is a living donor. People who received a transplant but are on dialysis can compete with their doctor's consent. Participants must have received their transplant before Sept. 10, 2015.
