New Name, Same Mission: UW OTD
The UW organ and tissue donation team is honored to work with hundreds of dedicated physicians, hospital staff members, donor family members, transplant recipients, volunteers and community partners in the life saving mission of organ and tissue donation. They value these partnerships, which is why they are excited to announce a change to the program's name.
Effective March 28, 2013, the UW Health Organ Procurement Organization will be known as UW Organ and Tissue Donation (UW OTD).
"Over the past several years, our program has undergone significant transformations, including the addition of tissue development services," said Jill Ellefson, Executive Director. "When we decided to rename our program, we knew that our new identity had to represent our mission, our home here at UW and the services we provide."
The program's new name simplifies this statement, and accurately represents their history as one of the nation's finest programs.
"Rest assured that this is simply a change to our name, not our long-standing partnerships with hospitals, donor families, volunteers and community members," said Ellefson. "We will continue our efforts to support, educate and build and maintain strong relationships; and most importantly, to continue serving and supporting donor families."
