"Your gift to me gave my daughter, born also in 1988, a renewed outlook on her life as she reflected on all she had learned in those 13 years."
-- Kathy, who received a donor organ from an anonymous donor
Kathy received a donor organ from an anonymous, 13-year-old donor. Below are her words of gratitude.
My dear, sweet child, we met on a night of festivities that all but your family and I enjoyed - July 4, 2001. You were such a blessing to me and the family I faced leaving, and yet I wept for the family you were leaving.
Their strength and love for you during your 13 years must have been immense. By sharing you with others so they could live is an overwhelming and painful decision to make.
You are so lucky to have had parents like that. I will forever be grateful and, as you know, I still pray for their hearts to heal from losing their beloved son. Your gift to me gave my daughter, born also in 1988, a renewed outlook on her life as she reflected on all she had learned in those 13 years she had lived so far. She is now 20, as you are, only you are blessed with walking with our Lord.
Please hear my prayers each night. I know not your first name. Even so, you are very loved and I am so thankful you lived. You have given life to many. Please help your family know how wonderful their gift of life has been.
Forever with me,
