Hope, meet Gratitude
More than 1,500 people attended events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the UW Health Transplant Program and UW Organ and Tissue Donation held the weekend of July 29-30.
At the 50 Years of Hope Gala, a formal event held at Monona Terrace on Friday, July 29, guests learned about the program’s rich history of success and their big plans for the next 50 years. At the casual gathering on Saturday, July 30, guests celebrated all the courageous people who have made the program what it is today.
Participants at both events heard from physicians, transplant recipients, living donors and donor families about their experiences as both Hope — those who support and provide the giving of the gift of life — and Gratitude — those who have received the gift of life through an organ transplant. The events were filled with inspirational moments, but among the favorites of the weekend was the Parade of Hope and Gratitude, when representatives of both Hope and Gratitude marched across the stage to proclaim their joy at being part of this amazing program.
While the events are over, the 50th anniversary celebration continues. Visit uwhealth.org/transplant to view photos and a video, purchase apparel and products, read inspiring stories, and learn how you can share your own story of Hope or Gratitude.
