Haley showing off her scarHaley Wilber from Keshena, Wisconsin is extremely proud to show her scar.

In March 2013, Haley suddenly became very ill with Wilson's disease, a genetic disorder that allows too much copper to build up in the liver and other organs. The only way Haley would survive was to get a new liver. Just four days after her shocking diagnosis, a matching liver became available and Haley promptly underwent a seven-hour liver transplant.

Since then, Haley attended prom, ran in a 5K and began studying to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

"I have so many people to thank for being alive," Haley says. "My organ donor saved my life, and everyone on the UW Transplant team at American Family Children's Hospital was incredible. I have my whole life to look forward to because of them."
