For Health Care Professionals: Changes in Infectious Disease Testing

To improve the methods used for infectious disease testing, and to meet new regulatory requirements, the UW Health Organ Procurement Organization changed infectious disease testing procedures.

Prior to July 1, 2009, all testing was done at UW Hospital in Madison, but now some tests will be done at UW Hospital and a few others will be done at the Blood Center of Wisconsin (BCW) in Milwaukee.

The UW Health Organ Procurement Organization team has prepared new testing kits and facilitated a process that will ensure both the highest possible level of testing and prompt return of results. The Organ Procurement Organization team will continue to manage the needed communication and transportation efforts to facilitate testing.
