University of Wisconsin mascot Bucky BadgerBadger fans now have the chance to show their true colors, red, white - and orange - through an exciting expanded partnership between the Wisconsin Badgers, the University of Wisconsin Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) and Donate Life Wisconsin.

The new partnership capitalizes on the tremendous fan base and excitement surrounding UW Athletics in an effort to encourage more Wisconsin residents to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors on the Wisconsin Donor Registry.

The program features multiple components that will promote the message of donation to Badger fans and to help increase the number of registered donors in Wisconsin. Through game day sponsorship activities, the Badgers will host a Yes I Will Wisconsin Day at the UW vs. Purdue football game on November 5.

Dottie Donor Dot and volunteers from the OPO and Donate Life Wisconsin will be on hand to share information and encourage people to become donors. We will also have a presence and game day displays at other UW men's basketball and UW men's hockey games through their respective seasons.

Trey Schwab, Outreach Coordinator at the UW OPO, says, "We are incredibly excited about expanding our partnership with the Wisconsin Badgers to even more events this year, and to hopefully register even more donors. Badger fans are some of the most passionate fans in the nation and we hope to capture that passion and that enthusiasm to inspire more fans to sign up on the donor registry."

The partnership extends beyond game day events and activities to include on-air and online campaigns as well. Donate Life Wisconsin and the OPO will have an on-air presence as game sponsors of UW football, men's basketball, and men's hockey statewide broadcasts on the Badger Radio Network and through promotion and participation in the Badger Coaches radio shows such as the Bo Ryan Radio Show.

Through an online campaign, we will also partner with uwbadgers.com, the official website of Wisconsin Athletics, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of fans from Wisconsin and across the country. When the contest begins later this year, messages will direct fans to a "YesIWillBadgers" registration page to learn more about organ donation and how to register to become a donor.

Badger fans will also have a chance to use their social media connections through Facebook to promote organ donation and take part in a Donate Life Badger referral program contest hosted on the Wisconsin Badgers official Facebook fan page. Fans will be able to register as donors and refer their friends to do the same. Periodic prizes will be awarded during the contest, with a grand prize awarded at the end of the contest.

Through our Game Day, Badger Radio Network and Internet partnerships with the Wisconsin Badgers we have the opportunity to reach out to thousands of potential organ, eye, and tissue donors. When Badger fans team up with the OPO and the Wisconsin Donor Registry, not only will they be supporting their favorite sports teams, but they will become part-of our state-wide effort to increase donation and save more Wisconsin lives. Go Badgers!
