This is the AUDITOR Student Session. If you are a PHYSICIAN or PHYSICIAN EXTENDER, please register for ATLS under the PHYSICIAN/PHYSICIAN EXTENDER session.
AUDITORS do not receive certification in ATLS. AUDITORS participate in the lecture, skill station, and initial assessment stations of the course. AUDITORS may choose to take the written and practical tests, but are not required to do so.
Statement of Need:
The ATLS® course is designed to reduce morbidity and mortality rates for trauma patients. Participants will become familiar with the initial assessment and management of the trauma patient.
This course is designed for primary care physicians, surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, and physician extenders who care for trauma patients within their realm of practice.
The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medican Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American College of Surgeons designates the initial education activity for a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in that activity.
Approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for up to 19 hours of ACEP Category 1 credits for the initial course and 7.5 Category 1 credits for the refresher course.
