Description Engaging Stakeholders to Improve the Quality of Breast Cancer Follow-up: Focus Groups of Survivors and Oncologists

Key Eligibility
Patient Focus Groups:
  • Inclusion Criteria Purposeful sampling will be used to identify breast cancer survivors who are within 5 years of their breast cancer diagnosis. We will preferentially enroll patients with estrogen and progesterone receptor positive, stage I cancer (by self-report). Additional inclusion criteria include English speaking and age greater than 18. We aim to capture a variety of perspectives including age, years from diagnosis, education, rural residence, and race
  • Exclusion Criteria We will exclude patients who experienced a cancer recurrence or who are currently receiving Her2neu directed-therapy. Although a history of Her2neu directed-therapy or chemotherapy is not an absolute exclusion criteria, we will preferentially enroll patients who did not receive these therapies. Similarly, while we will preferentially enroll patients with stage I breast cancer, we will not explicitly exclude patients with history of other stages
    Oncologist Focus Groups:
  • Inclusion Criteria: Purposeful sampling will be used to identify medical oncologists who care for breast cancer patients at Swedish American Hospital and One South Park clinic. All medical oncologists who provide follow-up care to breast cancer survivors are eligible for participation
  • Exclusion criteria: We will exclude individuals under the age of 18 or who are not English speaking.
