Nurses at UW Hospital and Clinics deliver patient- and family-centered care through professional nursing practice that is compassionate, respectful, accountable and nonjudgmental.
One of the joys of practicing nursing in an academic setting is the opportunity to develop and nurture a spirit of inquiry. We believe that participating in the creation of new knowledge, as well as applying existing research findings through evidence-based practice, creates an atmosphere uniquely conducive to lifelong learning. We support and participate in the preparation of the next generation of health care professionals, as well as the ongoing development of all nurses.
The Environment for Nursing Care
Individual practitioners and the organization as a whole collaborate to cultivate a fertile environment for nursing care at UW Hospital and Clinics. The professional nurse ensures that the health care setting reflects the principles of safety, caring, compassion and technical competence. UW Hospital and Clinics, in turn, creates an environment of recognition that rewards these contributions by reducing barriers to effective nursing care and providing the resources for nurses to practice to the fullest of their professional knowledge and skill.
