UW Health to Affiliate with SwedishAmerican Health System in Rockford
MADISON - UW Health officials today announced an affiliation with SwedishAmerican Health System in Rockford.
Leaders of University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and UW Medical Foundation (UWMF) announced the new relationship at a news conference in Rockford this morning.
UW Health and SwedishAmerican will work together on expanding highly specialized health care in the Rockford area; advancing medical research; growing telemedicine initiatives; and providing seamless patient transfers and referrals between the two health systems.
"The SwedishAmerican system is an attractive partner to UW Hospital and Clinics because we share a common vision of care that is centered around the patient," said UW Hospital and Clinics President and Chief Executive Officer Donna Katen-Bahensky. "Both systems are focused on maintaining a high level of patient-care quality that is backed by good science and excellent customer service."
Jeffrey E. Grossman, MD, president and CEO of UWMF, said that collaboration between systems can help improve community and individual health without excessive duplication of services.
"We have experience and expertise to share with each other, and I know our physicians look forward to working together in a whole variety of ways," he said.
SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Bill Gorski said he is pleased that a nationally recognized medical center recognized SwedishAmerican's commitment to quality and leadership position in providing care to the people of northern Illinois. He added that the SwedishAmerican Board embraced this opportunity to significantly impact the hospital's regional strategies and service offerings.
