UW Health Recognized as a National Leader in Health Care Quality
Madison, Wisconsin - UW Health has been named one of the nation's top five leaders in health care quality, according to national benchmarking data assessed by UHC, an alliance of the nation's leading academic medical centers.
At its annual conference in August 2015, UHC recognized UW Health as one of five honorees of the inaugural UHC Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Leadership Award.
This award is presented to academic medical centers that demonstrate excellence in delivering high quality, patient-centered, efficient and effective outpatient care.
The 2015 winners are:
- UW Health
- NYU Langone Medical Center
- University of Utah Health Care and University of Utah Medical Group
- Penn Medicine, Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania
- Emory Clinic
The study assessed data from nearly 60 percent of all eligible academic medical centers and measured performance in five domains:
- Access to care
- Capacity management and throughput
- Quality and efficiency
- Continuum of care
In this new era of health care, organizations are being challenged to better manage services as new payment and care delivery models increasingly emphasize the importance of cost, quality, and accessibility of care.
UW Health and the other award winners are exhibiting significantly better performance than the rest in critical areas needed to meet this growing demand while maintaining high quality care.
