New Executive Director Named at Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House; New Executive Director Named at Ronald McDonald HouseMADISON - There's a new leader at Madison's Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing for parents of children who are patients at Madison area hospitals.

Kevin Huddleston, who began as executive director March 3, formerly worked for the American Red Cross Chapters in Janesville and Winona County, Minn.

Ronald McDonald House, located at 2716 Marshall Court, charges $10 a night to parents with hospitalized children. The fee is waived for parents who can't afford to pay.

Huddleston said the facility has 18 rooms and 60-70% percent of them are occupied by parents with children receiving medical attention at American Family Children's Hospital. If all rooms are filled, arrangements are made with local hotels.

"We may not be doctors, but I believe Ronald McDonald House provides something positive in the healing process," said Huddleston. "Many people have called this place a life saver. That's what fuels my fire and makes me want to do my best."

Huddleston said Ronald McDonald House is funded through cash donations, and it also accepts items such as bedding, canned foods, hair dryers, janitorial supplies, DVD's, restaurant gift certificates and gas cards. People interested in making a donation should visit the Web site:
