The west side farmers market is moving to UW Health's Digestive Health Center.

Fresh fruits, vegetables and seasonal treats will make their way to a new location in 2017. The Westside Community Market will relocate to UW Health’s Digestive Health Center parking lot, located at 750 University Row, in April 2017, at the start of the next market season.

Currently the farmers’ market is at the Hill Farms Department of Transportation parking lot at Sheboygan Avenue and Segoe Road, but due to construction a new location was needed. The UW Health Digestive Health Center, opened in 2013, offers ample parking and a prime location to keep the market in the neighborhood.

We think this new location will make things easier with the bigger parking lot and easy access from both University Ave. and Whitney Way. Since the market is on Saturdays, no patient care will be affected,” said Mary Evers Statz, sustainability director at UW Health. “Saturday farmers’ markets are a staple in the community. UW Health’s mission is about advancing health, and we are happy to support local, sustainable produce.”

The Westside Community Market started in 2005 and is held Saturdays from April to early November from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We are grateful UW Health was able to help us continue our market tradition. We are glad we found a new location in the community so we can still offer the same Saturday morning traditions,” said Ben Zimmerman, market manager.

The West Side Community Market, a vendor-run farmers’ market features fresh, locally grown, raised or produced: vegetables, fruits, berries, meats, cheeses, baked goods, bedding and blooming local plants, cut flowers, dairy, eggs and much more
