UW Health Transitional Care Case Manager Peggy Troller is being recognized as a top nurse for 2018 by Madison MagazinePeggy Troller, DNP, MSMFT, RN-BC, works as a Transitional Care Case Manager at UW Health but she’s better known as the “Hearing Aid Fairy.” Peggy helps hospitalized patients who forgot their hearing aid batteries and supplies. Peggy not only helps with the hearing aids but has made it her mission to educate the staff on correct ways to communicate with hearing impaired people.

This is a personal cause for Peggy, who has been hearing impaired since age 9 and at age 35, got hearing aids. Her passionate work has improved the lives of so many patients, and she has gently educated staff along the way.

UnityPoint at Home Case Manager Kevin Franco Valle is being recognized by Madison Magazine as a top nurse in 2018Kevin Franco Valle, RN, BSN is a Case Manager at UnityPoint at Home. Kevin’s journey to becoming a nurse required perseverance and grit from an early age. He moved to the United States from Mexico with his family at age 18 without knowing English. At age 18, he was kicked out of his family’s home because he was gay and began staying with friends until a high school counselor took him in.

Kevin learned English and attended community college, later being accepted to UW-Madison on scholarship. He works as a case manager in the home setting, helping patients through often difficult situations in their own lives and inspiring his colleagues.

Peggy and Kevin will be honored along with four other Madison area nurses, at the Madison’s Top Nurses 2018 Event on December 13.
