$3 million gift for American Family Children's HospitalMADISON – The Pediatric Specialty Clinic at the American Family Children’s Hospital will be named the George A. Fait Family Clinic, in recognition of a recent $3 million gift from Mr. Fait on behalf of himself, his three children, their spouses, and seven grandchildren.

Fait is a retired insurance company president who founded Capitol Indemnity Corporation in Madison in 1959 and Capitol Transamerica Corporation in 1965.

A community philanthropist and Class of 1950 UW-Madison alumnus who has generously supported the UW, the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison and other organizations, Fait wanted his entire family involved in making the gift to American Family Children’s.

“Having lived in Madison and been a supporter of the UW for more than 60 years, my family and I made a unanimous decision to support the new Children’s Hospital. Being able to contribute to this world-class children’s hospital is both an honor and a privilege. The new facility will be a beneficial legacy to all the children and families that pass through its doors,” stated Fait.

“We were just amazed when we toured the new facility,” says Leslie Farmer of Winnetka, Ill., one of Fait’s children. “We wish that no child would ever have to use the hospital, but seeing how warm and inviting it is will make a child’s hospitalization the best possible experience.”

Fait’s other two children, Joel Fait and Diane Zillner, both of Middleton, commented that spending time outdoors at his farm and going fishing have always been a source of enjoyment for their dad. Thus, the “All Things Wisconsin” theme of the hospital also was very appealing to their father.

The Pediatric Specialty Clinic at the American Family Children’s Hospital is a distinct diagnostic and treatment center where children with chronic illnesses and life-threatening conditions and their families receive hope and help in large doses from a specially trained staff and world-class physicians.

The clinic has 35 exam rooms, teaching and education spaces, special procedure ms, radiology, a lab and rehabilitation spaces.
