woman's face, Reveal Brighter, Healthier Skin with Chemical Peels, Jeune Skin Care, serving the Madison, Wisconsin areaThe first thing that may come to your mind when you think of a chemical peel is, "No way... I am not letting anyone near me with acid, let alone have someone put it on my face!"

You may even hear of excellent results or benefits of chemical peels, but you're still a little leery of the whole idea.

Good news! Chemical peels can be one of the most beneficial treatments for sun damage, wrinkles, acne and acne scarring. In some cases, it may prevent against pre-cancerous lesions on the skin.

What exactly is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a solution is applied to the skin using specific natural ingredients, such as alphahydroxy or betahydroxy acids. These acids are derived from fruit, sugar cane, plants or even sour milk. The main purpose of the acid is to remove a damaged outer layer of skin to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion.

Is a chemical peel suitable for sensitive skin?

There are so many different types of chemical peels - and yes, many are beneficial for even the most sensitive skin. You may actually find the procedures to be relaxing, with little irritation or no discomfort at all. The medical aestheticians at Jeune Skin Care will thoroughly evaluate your skin during a complimentary consultation to find the best chemical peel to suit your skin and desired results.

Can I expect any "down time?"

With an alphahydroxy acid peel, you can expect minimal or no down time. Some clients are able to apply makeup right away and leave with only a slight pink flush to their skin. At Jeune Skin Care, we also offer several peels that may require 2-3 days of slight flaking or peeling - however, this will not prevent you from going about your normal daily routine.

What results can I expect from a chemical peel?

Improvements from mild chemical peels may be subtle at first. You will detect a healthier glow to your skin. However, with continued treatments you will notice a general improvement in the texture of your skin, and softening of fine lines, acne breakouts and mild scarring, as well as a reduction of hyperpigmentation.

At Jeune Skin Care, a variety of chemical peels are available to treat your individual skin care concerns.
