At UW Health, our volunteers play an important role in the overall success of our organization. They assist patients, their families, and visitors to our facilities and are valued members of the health care team.

 

The questions and answers below pertain to returning volunteers to UW Hospital and Clinics and American Family Children's Hospital.

 

I volunteered at UW Hospital and Clinics recently and would like to return, what is the process?

 

If you volunteered within the past three years, please see below. If it has been over three years since you volunteered here, you will need to go through the complete volunteer application process. 

 

I am a returning adult or high school student volunteer. What is the process for me?

 

Send Volunteer Services an e-mail stating that you are a returning volunteer. Include your day and time availability and where you would like to volunteer. In some situations you may need to update your annual TB test and annual Safety and Infection Control Test. We also ask you to update your personal information, such as your mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address.

 

I am a returning college student volunteer. What is the process for me?

 

Once you know your final schedule for the upcoming semester, send Volunteer Services an e-mail stating that you are a returning college student volunteer. Include your day and time availability and where you would like to volunteer. In some situations you may need to update your annual TB test and annual Safety and Infection Control Test. We also ask you to update your personal information, such as your mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address.

 

I'm a college student. When should I sign up for the next semester?

 

When you have your final schedule for the upcoming semester, send Volunteer Services an e-mail stating your day and time availability and where you would like to volunteer. Typically, this is the timeline:

  • For the fall semester, we start scheduling in July and end September 15
  • For the spring semester, we start scheduling in November and end January 31
  • For the summer semester, we start scheduling in April and end June 1
