Paula is a physician assistant in the Transplant Department employed by the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation:
"As a physician assistant I provide medical care to liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients.
"My responsibilities within the inpatient setting include postoperative care for new transplant recipients, as well as medical management of long-term transplant patients with infectious complications or rejection.
"In the outpatient setting, I am responsible for preoperative evaluations, chronic immunosuppression management and acute care issues.
"The most rewarding part of my position is the impact transplantation can have on the quality of life for patients' and their families. For some patients, transplantation is a life-saving surgery. I am honored to be a part of the team that provides this service."
