Employee Profiles: Hujjat, Information Technology

With information technology in his blood, Hujjat brought his skills to the U.S. all the way from Mexico, and we're so happy he chose UW Health.

Meet Hujjat and learn how he made the transition from ecotourism to IT, and why he likes to play with "toys."

What brought you to UW Health?

UW Health Information Technology professional HujjatI was working at UW Bookstore when I was recommended to work at UW Health by a friend, who was working as a contractor for them. He said they were looking for someone with experience to assist them in a technical project. He also spoke very highly of the job, saying it was a good place to work with great co-workers. I had worked in IT before so I decided to go for it. I’m glad I made the change!

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I started working in IT when I was working at an ecotourism business in Oaxaca, Mexico. I started off doing web design for the company, then I moved up to work stations, coordinating networks, and before I knew it I was working in IT.

What is your favorite pastime?

I like sports and watching movies, but overall my favorite past time is playing with the new Cisco System “toys.” Cisco is a network system that links phones, Macs, PCs all to one network so that companies can communicate efficiently and across large distances without paying additional long distance fees. The system is so innovative and interesting I often find myself consumed in its multiple uses.

What is your favorite part of working here?

I love my co-workers—everyone is really nice and fun—but I would have to say my favorite part of working here is the new technology! We are in a leading technological age and in my job I get to work with all the new toys and gadgets

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?

My wish would be to have enough time in my life to fulfill all my goals. Some of those include going further in my career, traveling the world, and providing my family with countless opportunities. Another goal would be living long enough to see my son grow up and become whatever it is he wants to be.
