The physicians and staff of the UW Health Lupus Nephritis Clinic are pleased to provide care for patients who have lupus nephritis, a type of kidney disease caused by systemic lupus erythematosus (commonly called lupus).
Patients at the UW Health Lupus Nephritis Clinic receive coordinated care from two specialists:
- A rheumatologist who specializes in the care of patients with lupus and is an expert in lupus diagnosis, treatments and mediations
- And a nephrologist who specializes in kidney disease and how best to manage kidney failure
Patients at the UW Health Lupus Nephritis Clinic will see both specialist in the same clinic, on the same day. These physicians work together to coordinate any needed tests and will create a care plan based on each patient’s lupus and the level of kidney treatment needed. This combined approach ensures that the patient’s lupus care and kidney treatments work together so both issues are well-managed.
