Our Level III NICU features 24 beds and is staffed 24-hours a day by a multidisciplinary team of UW Health experts.
Our team is trained to care for any problems that a mom-to-be or newborn might encounter. Because some babies are born early, they might require special assistance with breathing or learning how to eat. Other newborns are full-term but are born critically ill, have infections, surgical needs or birth defects. Others just need specialized care and observation while they grow strong and develop. We’re here to make sure they receive the best care in northern Illinois.
Here’s what you can expect to experience:
Private rooms for each new mom and baby
NicView webcams for parents and family members to see their infant at anytime from anywhere
Lactation consultants providing an optimal level of care for breastfeeding
Breastfeeding Support Group lead by certified lactation consultants
Swaddle immersion bath training by specialists to educate parents how to best care for their little one
Volunteer "cuddle rockers" to sooth babies when parents are resting
Valet parking and dedicated staff to drive you by cart inside the hospital to make your visit easier
On-site hotel accommodations for families to stay close
