Flexible Office Hysteroscopy
About Flexible Office Hysteroscopy
During a flexible office hysteroscopy, a flexible catheter half the diameter of a pencil is inserted through the vagina and into the uterus.
The actual procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and patients can watch the video images on a screen along with the physician. Unlike an ultrasound, the display is clear to patients and the physician can explain what they are viewing.
The flexible office hysteroscopy allows physicians to find even small polyps (i.e., micropolyps) that may not be apparent through other means.
For patients undergoing In Vitro Fertilization, the flexible office hysteroscopy can help ensure the uterine cavity is in the best condition possible prior to an IVF cycle.
