About the Ryan White Part C Program

Ryan White Title III is a federally funded grant providing early intervention and ongoing primary care services to HIV-infected individuals. Any HIV-infected individual in the state of Wisconsin and beyond is eligible for this program if he/she meets the eligibility requirements. HIV primary care services include:
  • Diagnosis and treatment of HIV disease
  • Early interventions and prophylaxis for HIV-related complications
  • General medical care
  • Psychological and psychosocial assessment and treatment
  • Referrals to specialty clinics
  • Screening for clinical trials
If you currently do not have health insurance or your insurance does not cover all your health care needs (e.g., dental or mental health), you may be eligible for the program. There may be a minimal cost to you depending on your income. Some services are not covered (e.g., emergency room visits, hospitalizations). There may be alternatives for payment of non-covered services. This will be discussed at your initial visit.
Covered Services
  • Physician, nurse and social work case management services in the HIV Clinic
  • Special eye exams at UW Health eye clinics for individuals with CD4 (T-helper cell) counts under 200
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Gynecology exams
  • Laboratory work related to HIV
  • Certain X-ray services
  • Dental services (preventative)
  • Alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) assessment and referral to outpatient/inpatient treatment
  • Psychiatric evaluations, individual counseling and psychotherapy groups
  • Approved medications not covered by the state AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)
  • Approved immunizations
