The goal of the staff at the UW Health preventive cardiology Primary Prevention Clinic is to assist patients in lowering risk for future heart diseases and blood vessel problems.
We do this by helping you control your blood pressure, cholesterol levels and weight, improving overall health and functioning and working with health providers in taking care of patients' hearts.
Our program includes:
  • An assessment of current physical condition and eating habits
  • Development of an individualized exercise and activity prescription
  • Exercise guidelines tailored to individual needs and medical history
  • Consultations with our nutritionists are recommended to review and improve nutrition and aid in the control of heart disease and diabetes risk factors

Patient Information


Our clinic sees patients with a history of:

  • High cholesterol levels
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Diabetes
  • Sedentary lifestyles or excess weight
  • Metabolic syndrome

A referrals from your primary care provider is required to be seen in the Primary Prevention Clinic. Initial appointments will last approximately 90 minutes and will include exercise, so please wear appropriate clothing. Call (608) 263-7420 with any questions.
