Medical Director's Corner October 2018
This Fall brought back football, chili cookoffs, bonfires and s’mores, and it also brought some major changes at the Education Center. In September, we welcomed our latest Paramedic Cohort, #65! They’re all settling into their classes and are excited to learn from our dynamic and energetic faculty. This year we added nearly 40 hours of outside speakers, renowned educators from the University of Wisconsin and content experts in the field. The students are all well on their way to passing the National Registry exam.
We have also added several new faculty members to the roster and have added leadership positions to support prehospital programs and activities. While some of the faces may have changed, we have made sure to focus on our Mission: “to provide unparalleled education, training and advancement opportunities to all healthcare providers in the State of Wisconsin, thereby dramatically increasing the amount of high quality, patient-centered care delivered through the application of innovative research and advanced education throughout the healthcare continuum.”
To that end, I encourage you to check out educational podcasts put out by the UW Department of Surgery, entitled “Surgery Sett”. The most recent episode focuses on the “Culture of Wellness” and how we can focus on our own health and resiliency to become better healthcare providers. “Surgery Sett” can be found on iTunes, Stitcher, GooglePlay or anywhere you download podcasts – check them out !
There is always much going on. Please be sure to subscribe to this newsletter and Like our Facebook page - facebook.com/uwhealtheec - to keep up to date! We will be posting upcoming classes, and interesting articles that will excite, challenge and entertain you!
