How do I sign up for classes?
Please follow the instructions in the videos to register for Emergency Education Center classes.

UW Health employees should be sure to select UWHC Employee or UWMF Employee when creating an account.
Note: If you signed up for a class prior to our new registration system, you do not need to re-register.
What courses are offered?
The EEC offers a range of course including AHA and ENA courses; CPR, ACLS Recognition, ACLS Renewal, ACLS – EP, PALS Recognition, PALS Renewal, TNCC, ENPC.
The EEC also offers courses in ATLS and Critical Care Transport, as well as Paramedic training.
How much do courses cost?
Most courses for UW staff are included for your continued education and certification. For outside customers, the course fees are as follows:

What is needed prior to coming to class?
If you have not taken a course with the EEC in the past you will need to bring your certification card for that course. If you are enrolled in the advanced courses, you will also need to provide a current CPR card (Example: you signed up for ACLS renewal, you will need to bring both your current CPR card and current ACLS card).
How far in advance can I sign up for a class?
You can sign up for classes six months in advance. The EEC uploads a new calendar month at the end of every month (example: July's calendar is uploaded at the end of January, August's calendar is uploaded at the end of February, etc.). You will only be permitted to sign up for one class date/time per course.
Is there a waitlist?
No. There are no waitlists for any of the courses. However, if you need to get into a class, you are free to show up on the day and time you need to get in, but will only be permitted into the class if a student does not show up.
What happens if I am expired?
Please discuss this with your manager. The EEC tries to work with every student, but sometimes due to class demands we are unable to provide these accommodations. Please review policy number 9.41 "Verification of Licensure or Certification" and policy number 9.35 "Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Other Life Saving Interventions" for questions regarding noncompliance of certification.
What happens if I can't go on the day I am scheduled?
Please contact your manager or nurse manager assistant immediately. It will be your responsibility to cancel the class in advance. If the class is not canceled, it will be counted as a "No Call, No Show" on your record. Check with your manager or NMA to reschedule your class.
How do I cancel a class?
If you wish to withdraw from a class and need a refund, please call the EEC at (608) 263-7705. If you wish to withdraw and receive a credit to your account or did not submit payment, follow the instructions below:
- Login to your ActiveNet Home Page.
- Once you are logged in, click on My Account at the top right of the page.
- On the Account Options page, select List of Prior Transactions under Account Activity.
- The Account Details page will appear. Enter the date range for the class you wish to cancel and select Search.
- When the name of the class appears in the results, select Withdraw next to the class you would like to be cancelled from.
- Continue by selecting Proceed to Checkout and then Checkout.
Note: If you are using Chrome for an internet browser and are unable to complete the steps listed above, try using Internet Explorer.
For Administrative Users
If you are an administrative user and need to cancel a staff member from a class:
- Login in through the ActiveNet administrative access.
- Click on Customers at the top of the page and search for the name you are looking for.
- Click on the appropriate name, another screen will open with demographics.
- Under Upcoming Activities/Flex Reg, click Refund button next to the class you would like to cancel.
- A new screen will open, click Enroll and Finish button, then click Select button next to person’s name.
- Another screen will open, click Finish. You should receive a "Receipt" at the end of this process.
How long are cards current for?
All AHA course completion cards are valid for two years through the end of the month in which the course completion card was issued (Example: Card was issued 3/7/2015, the card expires 3/31/2017).
ENA course certification cards are valid for four years through the end of the month in which the course completion card was issued.
How can I find out my expiration date of certification if I can't find my card?
Please call the EEC at (608) 263-7259 and we can look up your records if you took the course here. If you took the course at an outside facility, please contact that facility.

The EEC is located on the 4th floor of the Public Service Commission Building located on Whitney Way between Old Middleton Road and Silvertree Run. Prior to your class, the EEC will send you a map of available parking locations. Please follow the rules on the map so as not to be ticketed.
What types of cards are accepted?
The EEC and UW Hospitals and Clinics accept American Heart Association cards, American Red Cross – CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers cards, Military Training Network cards (with the exception of MTN HeartSaver), and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Please be aware of online certifications that are not AHA. They look similar, but are not accepted. The EEC and UW Hospitals and Clinics only accept American Heart Association cards for ACLS and PALS.
How can I borrow or purchase a book for a course?
Each UW unit should have a library of books that employees can check out on a rental basis. If you do prefer to purchase your own, please call or stop by the EEC and we can provide one for you. You can also purchase books online through the registration website and the book will be sent to the address you provided.

How do I get my certification card?
After successful completion of the course you will be issued a certification card. It is your responsibility to keep this card with you and provide a copy to your manager. If necessary, duplicate cards can be provided at your expense for $10-$11 (depending on course).
