Greystone Best-in-Class Awards 2009
Category: Best Redesigned Web Site
Organization: UW Health/University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
Prior to its 2009 redesign, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Web site had a dated look and feel that did not leave a positive impression on visitors. It had also outgrown its structure, making the site difficult to navigate. In addition, the former site did little to showcase the school’s relationship with the clinical enterprise of UW Health. Our medical school faculty not only teach students and conduct research – they also provide patient care at UW Health clinics and hospitals.
The new School of Medicine and Public Health Web site
launched in May 2009 with an updated design and improved navigation that better reflects the school’s status as a world-renowned leader in education, research and patient care. Also, new tabs atop each page of both uwhealth.org and med.wisc.edu clearly illustrate the close relationship between the two entities.
The new Web site was built using a new content management system developed by UW Health’s e-Health department to give editors greater flexibility with content entry and site structure. e-Health staff has also begun working with several departments within the school to redesign their individual, disparate Web sites to mirror med.wisc.edu.
