Who is a good candidate for breast augmentation/implants?
You are a good candidate for breast augmentation if you are healthy and looking for improvement in the size and/or shape of your breasts. You may want to add volume, restore your breasts to how they looked before babies or aging, or balance the size of each breast.

What types of breast implants and services are available?
We offer breast augmentation, implant, lift, reconstruction, and reduction surgery. For implants, we offer both silicone implants and inflatable implants filled with saline (salt water) solution.

How do I prepare for breast augmentation/implant surgery?
Your doctor will advise you on how to best prepare for breast surgery, giving you guidelines on eating and drinking, and medications or vitamins to take or avoid. For example, avoid smoking/tobacco use four to six weeks before surgery and avoid aspirin 14 days before and after. Depending on your age and family history, your surgeon may need you to have a mammogram before your surgery. Before going into your surgery, you should arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you for a day or two.

What is involved in a breast augmentation/implant surgery?
This procedure enhances breast size using implants. Your surgeon makes incisions in a discreet area that will not be easy to notice under your armpit, around your nipple or under your breast. Implants are inserted under the breast tissue or beneath your chest wall muscle. This outpatient surgery typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour using a general anesthesia.

What do I need to know about recovery and results after my surgery?
Right after your breast augmentation surgery, you may feel sore or notice swelling, bruising and changes in nipple feeling. You might feel nauseous while walking due to the anesthesia. These symptoms can be managed by medications prescribed by your doctor. You may leave the surgery with gauze dressings and a surgical or soft bra. These dressings only stay on for a few days. If you have stitches, your doctor will remove them after a week to 10 days. Feeling tired and sore a few days after surgery is common. You will be able to start light activities again after a couple of days. You should able to return to work in a week or two and resume exercise after a month. Swelling might take three to five weeks to go away, while scars might take a few months.

What are some risks with breast augmentation/implant surgery?
Deflation of your breast implant may occur, along with bleeding or infection. If your breasts start feeling hard, you may be experiencing a common complication called capsular contracture. After surgery, tissue gathers around your implants to create a natural “capsule.” Sometimes this capsule gets smaller, which makes the implants feel hard and distorts the breasts. Although there is no sure way to prevent contracture, it can be treated depending on your situation.

How much does breast augmentation cost?
The cost of breast augmentation/implant surgery varies depending on the type of implant one selects (silicone or saline). If you would like to learn more, please request a consultation to determine how much breast augmentation would be for you.
