About

Sarah McAchran, MD, FACS, is a UW Health urologist and urogynecologist (a reconstructive surgeon who treats female pelvic region disorders). She’s also an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Urology.

Dr. McAchran cares for adult women throughout all phases of life. She diagnoses and treats disorders related to the bladder, bowels, uterus and other pelvic organs. These include incontinence (loss of bladder control), infections, pain and pelvic organ prolapse (when a pelvic organ drops out of place due to weak muscles and surrounding tissues).

Dr. McAchran helps women manage their conditions with the most effective treatments available, which may include medication, physical therapy, surgery or something else.

Understanding that many people are embarrassed to talk about their medical issues, Dr. McAchran listens to each person’s concerns and answers questions. She believes it’s important to educate patients about their conditions. Then, they work together to create personalized care plans.

Her goal is to help each patient feel better, function well and enjoy a high quality of life.

As a researcher, Dr. McAchran studies better ways to treat female urologic issues.

During her free time, Dr. McAchran enjoys gardening.

Sometimes people are embarrassed to talk about their medical issues. I reassure them and work to improve their quality of life.
