About

Ravi Viswanathan, MD, is a UW Health allergist and immunologist and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He sees adult patients with a variety of allergies, asthma and immunologic disorders.

Dr. Viswanathan diagnoses and treats a wide range of allergic diseases, including seasonal allergies, food allergies, asthma, hives and swelling. As an immunologist, he cares for patients with conditions caused by insufficient immune system function. He specializes in drug allergies, mast cell disorders (abnormal immune cell growth), eosinophilic disorders (overproduction of a certain type of white blood cell) and seasonal allergies.

Dr. Viswanathan believes that long-term solutions stem from active listening and shared decision-making. He takes time to get to know his patients and works with them to create tailored, precision-based treatments. Above all, he strives to build lasting relationships with his patients based on trust and efficiency.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Viswanathan researches new therapeutic methods to manage conditions that cause hives and swelling.

In his free time, Dr. Viswanathan enjoys playing tennis and exploring national parks with his family.

I strive to be an effective bridge connecting science and medicine to the person in front of me.
