About

Nicole Van Heuklon is a doctor of physical therapy at UW Health. She specializes in neurological physical therapy and treats a wide variety of neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis, stroke, TBI and Parkinson's disease.

Using evidence-based treatment plans, Nicole skillfully treats patients who have had a stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, vestibular (inner ear) disorders, balance disorders and lower extremity limb loss. As part of her care, she also performs seating and mobility evaluations.

Nicole believes in balancing science with patient-focused care. She takes time to listen to her patients’ goals before establishing care and believes that working with patients on treatment plans allows for more successful outcomes.

In addition to her physical therapy practice, she is actively involved in educating physical therapy students, resident physicians and other health care providers about effective treatments for people with limb loss through an affiliation with the UW-Madison Physical Therapy Program.

Educating patients about their condition, options for treatment and potential outcomes is an important part of the rehabilitative process.
