About

As a physician specially trained in emergency medicine, Megan Gussick, MD, leads a team of expert health care clinicians who treat people with illnesses or injuries that could be life-threatening or pose an immediate risk to their health and well-being. Injury or illness can be caused by disease, infection, stroke, heart attack, or bodily trauma, and may include symptoms such as fevers, vomiting, bleeding, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness and pain. She speaks with patients, obtains lab tests and imaging, such as X-rays to diagnose the injury or illness and provides necessary treatment.

Whether it is a life-threatening event, such as a heart attack, or a condition needing rapid treatment, such as pneumonia, Dr. Gussick attentively and compassionately listens to all patients to understand their health care needs and provide the most advanced medical care available.

Dr. Gussick currently serves as the Medical Director for the Madison Fire Department and Dane County Tactical Team, and she is committed to the education of UW Emergency Medicine residents and UW medical students about the structure, function and impact of EMS providers and prehospital medicine.
