About

Maria Standiford, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner specializing in adolescent medicine. She cares for patients ages 12 to 25 who have eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).

She also treats those with reproductive health concerns such as heavy or painful periods, irregular menstrual cycles and other menstrual management problems.

Maria often works closely with UW Health cancer and blood disease specialists to help patients with bleeding disorders manage menstrual health issues. She also sees adolescent patients diagnosed with mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression.

Understanding that many of her young patients struggle with sensitive and uncomfortable conditions, Maria offers compassionate care from the moment they walk through the door. She takes time to build trust and collaborates with patients and their families to create plans that fit into their lives. Dedicated to helping her patients get back to the activities they love, she empowers children to make educated decisions about their health.

In her free time, Maria enjoys watching women’s soccer and playing outside with her children.

The most rewarding part of working with adolescents is helping them make their own decisions. I enjoy seeing their happiness when they achieve their goals.
