Kellene Eagen, MD

Kellene Eagen, MD, is a UW Health addiction medicine doctor. She is also an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.

As an addiction medicine doctor, Dr. Eagen cares for people who use alcohol and other addictive substances. She tries to help them understand how drugs and alcohol affect their lives. During initial visits, Dr. Eagen takes time to get to know her patients. She offers a safe space for people to talk openly and honestly. She respects her patients as individuals and works to gain their trust and respect.

Dr. Eagen believes that successful change needs to start with the individual. If patients are ready to make changes, she offers treatment options. She helps them take small steps, over time, to reach their goals and live healthier lives.

One of Dr. Eagen’s special interests is helping people who are unhoused and struggling with addiction. She works to connect them with housing and other social services. She also works to expand access to HIV and hepatitis C treatment.

During her free time, Dr. Eagen enjoys spending time with family, biking and exploring Madison.
