C. Lydia Wraight, MD

C. Lydia Wraight, MD, is a UW Health Kids neonatologist and an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Wraight cares for newborns, including premature babies, who have serious health problems right after birth. As a neonatology doctor, she treats these fragile newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

For babies with complex needs, Dr. Wraight coordinates care with other neonatology providers, including nurse practitioners, physicians and resident physicians. She also works to coordinate care with each family in a way that makes sense for them.

Dr. Wraight has a special interest in perinatal palliative care. She focuses a lot of her time on counseling families who are expecting infants with complex medical needs or a limited life span. For families who know during pregnancy that their baby will have health problems, she provides counseling and birth planning.

Outside of work, Dr. Wraight enjoys horseback riding and traveling.

Helping babies get healthy and grow until they’re big enough to go home was the first thing that really got me excited about neonatology.
