Dr. Amanda S.
Phillips earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of
North Texas in Denton, TX. She completed her predoctoral internship in
Behavioral Medicine at the VA San Diego Healthcare System/University of California
San Diego where she developed her expertise in behavioral weight management,
bariatric psychology, and diabetes psychology. Dr. Phillips completed her
postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at the VA San Diego Healthcare
System where she provided outpatient Behavioral Medicine services and inpatient
Consultation Liaison services to patients on the medical units. Dr. Phillips
enjoys working with interdisciplinary teams to help patients improve their
health via bariatric surgery, medical weight loss, and behavioral weight loss.
Her clinical interests also include working with people who are experiencing
diabetes burnout or are seeking assistance adjusting to the complex diabetes
self-management regimen. Dr. Phillips uses evidence-based therapeutic
approaches in her work including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
